One Thing You Missed: The NBA, the Kurds, and a Sad Week for Human Dignity

This week the NBA apologized after the general manager of the Houston Rockets posted a tweet in support of the pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong. Also this week, President Trump announced that the U.S. military would be pulling back from the front lines in northern Syria, leaving our Kurdish allies deeply vulnerable to attacks from Turkey. These things represent a stunning denial of the value of human life. Both China and Turkey are brutal, authoritarian regimes with no regard for human rights. Christians, and others who recognize the significance of human dignity, should care about the vulnerable and advocate on behalf of those unable to defend themselves.

Only when we see how lost we are, we can find our way again. Only when we bury what’s dead can we experience life again. Only when we lose our religion can we be amazed by grace again.
